Recently, I realized how important it is to get the fit of a dress before an important event. I bought a gorgeous dress for a friend's wedding, but I thought, “It fits beautifully as it is, why change anything?” In the end, on the day of the event it turned out that it was a little too big in the waist, and the length is difficult for dancing. If I had adjusted the fit beforehand, I would have felt much more comfortable. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is it even worth it to bring the dress to the fitting if it seems to fit fine?

I've never really thought about it, but it sounds logical! If the clothes fit perfectly, you feel much more comfortable in them. Especially at such events where you have to move a lot, dance, sit. Now I will be more attentive to this issue before important events.
Oh yeah, I've been in a similar situation! I think fit is important not only for comfort, but also for confidence. Even a small adjustment can make a huge difference in how you feel. I ordered Dress Alterations before prom because the dress was originally a little long. I had it shortened a bit and had it tailored at the waist - the result was just perfect! So if you have any doubts, it's better to be reassured and get the dress tailored to you than to worry about it later.
